About
Matthew Zelenin is a pianist, vocalist, and studio musician based in Austin, Texas. Classically trained from an early age, he competed internationally and performed at distinguished venues including Carnegie Hall. While pursuing his studies at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, he expanded his focus to jazz and contemporary styles, performing with acclaimed faculty and guest artists and serving as musical director of Another Round, the university’s nationally touring a cappella ensemble.
Now an active figure in Central Texas’s music scene, Zelenin performs regularly as a soloist, with his jazz trio, and in collaboration with ensembles and singer-songwriters. He recently premiered a program of original works and reimagined standards at the River Sun Jazz Club in San Antonio and is a frequent presence at Austin institutions such as the Elephant Room. He often works as an accompanist and performer in collaboration with local arts organizations. He also regularly performs for weddings, corporate events, and church services in the greater Austin area.
Zelenin’s playing combines classical training with a passion for improvisation and rich harmonic language. Inspired by pianists like Oscar Peterson and Chick Corea, his performances are marked by intensity, dynamic contrast, and emotional storytelling. He enjoys playing and listening to music across all genres and thrives in diverse performance settings.
